Trekking Mart has over 25 years of experience in the travel and trekking industry. This means that we have the experience to handle all of our clients professionally. We also have personal relationships with government and other professionals that can serve you in case any emergencies arise.
Our guides, porters and company owners are all from the Himalayas. We grew up here and we know the lay of the land as well as understanding the unique weather conditions of the Himalayas. These mountains produce their own eco-zones that require our guides to be aware of any possible weather dangers well in advance of storms.
Our guides and porters also have professional trekking equipment. This is important because many other companies allow their guides to trek in flip-flops and have clothing that is not in keeping with bad weather. Trekking Mart takes care of its guides. Yes, it costs a bit more, but we feel that we must provide good treatment and working conditions for those who work for us.
Our guides and porters are paid a living wage. Many of the smaller companies do not pay their guides even minimum wages. Our guides have worked for us full time and have been with Trekking Mart for years.
We are ecologically friendly. We are very conscious about environmental issues and strive to remove all solid waste from our treks.
All of our guides are licenced and professionally trained. Each of our guides MUST go through yearly training and certification. They are experienced and know the Himalayas.
We also have female guides who provide excellent service in addition to our male guides. Many clients, especially solo female trekkers, prefer to have female guides who can help them to have the best experience possible.
We only choose guest houses and hotels that are good quality. Sure, there are cheaper places to stay, but they often lack security. We strive to make sure all of our clients are safe and well taken care of.
Our company owner is the past treasurer of Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) and is a highly respected company owner within Nepal.
If you choose to do trips into Africa or other parts of South Asia, our travel partners must meet the same standards as our staff at Trekking Mart.
