15 Amazing Days on the Roof of the World!
There is nothing more spectacular than seeing the highest peak in the world up close in all of its splendor! Mt. Everest (8,848.86 m) is always the draw, but surrounding it is three other of the highest peaks in the world: Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,485m) and Cho Oyu (8,188m). This foursome of mountains rise to majestic heights, and all visible in a trip to Everest Base Camp, thanks to Trekking Mart.
The trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364m) is the finest trek in the Himalayas. It is the most popular of treks because it seems everyone who comes to Nepal wants to visit the Everest region once in their lifetime. Not only is there incredible scenery, but a chance to experience the amazing Sherpa culture as well as the flora and fauna of the Himalayas. You will pass through majestic forests, journey groves of colorful rhododendrons, behold majestic waterfalls and ancient Sherpa villages. Not only will you cherish this trip, but you will also feel an incredible sense of accomplishments as you follow in the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay who first climbed Mt. Everest in 1953.

A representative from Trekking Mart welcomes you at the arrival gate of Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. Then you will be taken to the hotel and rest of the day will be spent relaxing. In the evening we offer you a welcome dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant where you can enjoy Nepalese cultural dance presentation as well.

Our second day is for a sightseeing tour to several of the cultural UNESCO world heritage sites of Kathmandu city. An expert city guide will guide us to sacred Hindu temples, Buddhist shrines, and historical monuments as you become acquainted with Nepalese culture and traditions. Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Boudhanath stupa, and their extreme art and architecture are our center of attraction. Thereafter, Trekking Mart will organize a trek orientation program and also assist you on trekking preparation (equipment’s packing, etc).

Early morning about 3 am leave Kathmandu with pack breakfast, you’ll then be transferred to Ramechap airport to fly to Lukla. This is 3 hours drive and a 20-minute scenic flight over the striking Himalayan mountain ranges, landscapes and quintessential villages. At Lukla, you’ll meet all crew members and begin the trek northward to Phakding village.

Today's trek will take about 5-6 hours starting with a walk through pine forests along the Dudh Koshi River and crossing over a series of suspension bridges. After a steep climb over Chhutara, we’ll get to see the first view of Mount Everest (8,848m) over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. We’ll finally reach Namche Bazaar for an overnight rest.

This is essentially a day of rest at Namche in order to acclimatize our bodies with such elevation. You will have the opportunity to hike to Khumjung village (3,786m) and explore monasteries and local Sherpa villages. Namche itself is a famous town with some modern facilities. Enjoy your visit around, you’ll then stay overnight.

Following breakfast, we’ll start trekking towards the village of Tengboche. Today you’ll experience the amazing sights of several peaks including Mt. Everest (8,848m), Thamserku (6,623m), Ama Dablam (6,812m), Lhotse (8,516m), Nuptse (7,861m) to name just a few. Whilst passing through forests, you’re likely to encounter extraordinary wildlife.

A morning hike will give you the opportunity to take some fantastic pictures of the Tengboche monastery. The trek then offers great views on the way to Pangboche village whilst passing Chhortens and Mani walls. Lunch will then take place overlooking Mt. Ama Dablam. The afternoon trek is less demanding as we enter the Imja Valley. Finally, we’ll ascend the steep path before reaching Dingboche village (4,360m) where we’ll stay the night.

Today is our second day of rest. Simply relish and relax in a place of such natural beauty for the day or take a short climb to the top of the ridge and admire three of the six highest peaks in the world including Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyo. Stay overnight.

Trek along the arid terrace with outstanding views of the surrounding valleys and Mount Pumori (7,138 meters). The trail descends and crosses a fast-flowing stream on a wooden bridge. We will then stop at Duglha for lunch. After a short rest, we’ll then climb over the steep terminal moraine of Khumbu Glacier. Passing prayer flags and stones raised in memory of those who have died climbing, we will be reminded of the sheer scale and extremity of Mt Everest. We’ll stay the night in Lobuche.

Today is the longest trekking day of the adventure to reach our goal; Everest Base Camp. Walking through such a moraine and slippery trail is difficult, but the incredible 360°mountain view will inspire further strength and motivation. Since there is no place to stay at Everest Base Camp we’ll return to Gorak Shep for an overnight stay.

Today reaches another climax - Kala Patthar (5,545m), a dramatic sunrise viewing point. At Kala Patthar, trekkers are surrounded by countless high peaks offering great photo opportunities. Having spent some time to relax and take in unrivaled natural beauty, we’ll then walk back to Gorak Shep. The trek will then continue back downhill to Pheriche for a well earnt night’s rest.

Continuing our descent, the trail will take us across the Dudh Koshi River and along the Dudh Kosti gorge rapidly descending through the pine forests. There will be the opportunity to see the Himalayan Thar and Pheasant. We’ll finally reach to the Namche Bazaar for an overnight stay.

Breakfast is followed by a trek towards the Lukla valley. Taking in the superb view of landscapes and mountains in the distance, you’ll also have the chance to meet and converse with local people in the area. Overnight stay at Lukla.

Finally, a day with no trekking as we’ll take a scenic morning flight back to Ramechap and transfer to a Kathmandu hotel, you then have the rest of the day to do whatever you like. This may be simply relaxing or exploring Kathmandu. You may even wish to do some last-minute shopping for yourself, friends and family. Overnight in Kathmandu.
