Located just east to the most thrilling trekking destination of Nepal, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Mardi Himal Trek can be called as a hidden gem. Even though only a few trekkers make their way to the Mardi Himal base camp, those who go out there are never disappointed. This short trek provides you with the opportunity to view outstanding peaks and go through villages of Annapurna region to know the culture and traditions of that village.
The route of this region is a new one so you won’t be able to see lots of trekkers and the tea house and hotels are simple compared to other places in that region. Due to the less-developed place, it is less touristic and you can see the fantastic scenery of that region. The trek makes a small circuit up to the base camp of Mardi Himal. Hence, it also has advantages that you don’t have to backtrack over the same terrain.
At first, the trail starts out in the forest but after a few days you will have great views of the big peaks like Annapurna South and Machhapucchre or Fish Tail and the trek ends at the Mardi Himal base camp and if you have a few extra days you might even consider extending this trek and climb Mardi Himal (5,587 m)which is one of the same ridgelines as Machhapuchhre
