Trip Overview
Travel for Purpose is a unique proposition which addresses the needs of both the passionate, adventurous traveler as well as those in underprivileged sometimes desperate communities. In addition to operating within the travel business, Trekking Mart also sees a humanitarian responsibility in supporting the civilization of Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan through ongoing challenging circumstances.

Since Nepal was victimized by such a devastating and destructive earthquake, local communities have encountered frightening and disturbing physical and mental challenges. As such, Trekking Mart delivers a philanthropic opportunity to support those afflicted. This trip will take our visitor to Ghairung village of the Gorkha district with the prospect of connecting with struggling communities and directly inspiring recovery from the mortifying consequences of the earthquake. The trip also features many more cultural and scenic activities in Pokhara and Chitwan national park.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,338m)
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu airport, our representative will welcome you holding a clear sign displaying your name. You’ll then be taken to your chosen hotel in the center of the city. That evening we will provide a welcome dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant where you can taste authentic Nepali food and experience a cultural dance presentation. Meal Included: Dinner
Day 2: Kathmandu exploration day
You’ll now go sightseeing whilst touring some of the cultural heritages within Kathmandu city. Explore UNESCO listed sites - Swyambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple and Boudhnath stupa. A professional culture guide will be with you to provide you with the true insight behind their history. These places reflect the practices of Buddhism, Hinduism, and society based traditions. Explore ancient monuments and stay overnight. Meal Included:: Breakfast
Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Ghairung village (1,170m)
Enjoy your breakfast in the hotel. We’ll then start a drive through the countryside to Nepal - Ghairung village in Gorkha. The journey is diverse and will include travel on the motorway, country lane, and muddy path. There are scenic foothills, fast-flowing rivers and scattered villages providing an undeniably authentic Nepali experience. That night, we will stay in a homestay named - Gorkha Ajiko Ghar.
Meal Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 4-9: Volunteering programs
It may have been well over a year since the earthquake hit but it’s still very much in the minds of the locals. They need some encouragement and motivations to return to normal life. There you’ll have the opportunity to enlighten locals of a brighter future whilst supporting the community by simply eating and sleeping in their village. You’ll get the chance to teach school children in a local school, explore the local area, hike to nearby hills and villages. Your stay will bring a positive change to the locals and the village as a whole. Meal Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 10: Drive to Gorkha Bazaar (1,060m), explore the town
Today, you’ll take a 3-hour drive to Gorkha Bazaar. The hilly roads will pass scattered villages, terraces, and green hills. Gorkha is the place where the unification of Nepal was started. You’ll see the historic temples of Durbar and Kalika, Gorkha’s museum and ancient town which are certainly worth visit. Explore the area and stay overnight in a hotel. Meal Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 11: Drive to either Chitwan or Pokhara
Today you have two options to choose from:
1. Travel to Chitwan to explore the area’s extraordinary natural wildlife safari tour.
2. Visit Pokhara’s astonishing panoramic landscapes.
The drive to Chitwan takes around 4 hours whereas Pokhara is about 5 hours away. Stay overnight in your chosen hotel/resort.
Meal Included: Full board at Chitwan / Breakfast at Pokhara.
Day 12: Destination exploration
Chitwan - A UNESCO listed national park is the natural habitat of the Bengal Tiger, One-horned Rhino, Wild Elephant and Crocodiles to name just a few. You will have the opportunity to take a jungle walk, go on an elephant/jeep safari, a canoe ride and visit an elephant breeding center.
Pokhara - Following an early morning start, we’ll drive out to Sarangkot (1,592m) to witness the spectacular sunrise over the magnificent Annapurna Mountains. Returning via the Bindabasini temple, Devil’s falls, Gupteswor cave, a Tibetan refugee camp, and the International mountain museum. Meal Included: Full board at Chitwan / Breakfast at Pokhara.
Day 13: Drive back to Kathmandu
Today we’ll be driving back to Kathmandu. It is about a 5-6 hour’s journey (from both destinations) through a windy highway. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, you’ll check into a hotel, freshen up, relax and stay overnight.

Day 14: Final departure
On this final day, we’ll assist you in transferring to the airport. Meal Included: Breakfast only
